Christmas 2012

December 27, 2012

Last Wednesday, a week ago yesterday (December 19), Insignificant Other had $700, give or take a few. $500 was his pay, and he got a $200 bonus. I know he paid $250 toward January rent. On the 23rd he informed me that I shouldn’t expect anything for Christmas because he had no money. I certainly wasn’t expecting anything. He hasn’t given me a Christmas or birthday present in more than 5 years. Not even a card. Last year I gave him a watch. This year I didn’t bother.

I know he didn’t pay a single bill. When he had no beer tonight and I offered to go get him some (I had a few dollars from a editing job I did), I had the opportunity to question him a little about what happened to all his money. He couldn’t give me an answer and told me it was none of my business.

I just want to mention this while I’m remembering it. A few months ago, I bought a new cheese grater so that I would always have a clean one while the other was in the dishwasher. Recently, it disappeared. Cannot find it anywhere. IO diligently helped me look for it (something he would never bother to do unless he was guilty). A couple days later, when I mentioned that I should go through the plastic recycling just to make sure I hadn’t accidentally thrown it away, he said, “oh, no,” as if knew it wasn’t in there. He has taken that thing somewhere and given it to someone. I’m guessing he gave it to The Roomate’s mother.

P.S. June 2015 / That grater eventually turned up quite mysteriously in the drawer where it belongs.
