All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

August 28, 2010

I have legal insurance through the company I work for. I went to see an attorney on Friday about updating my living will and creating a last will and testament. When I came home, my electricity had been cut off and it took my entire paycheck to have it reconnected. Was that just yesterday? It seems very long ago now.

The water will  be turned off on Monday. My car tags are also due that day.

I got off work this morning and came home to find more things missing from the house. Minor things, a small price to pay. I went to sleep. I woke up. I found a note on the door from the landlord. The rent check bounced. Either that, or Insignificant Other had the check stopped. And I can’t call him to find out because I can’t have any contact with him.

I don’t know what I’m going to do any more. I’ve asked my friends to help me move. One said his wife was going to get some boxes. Another said he wishes he had a truck.  Another has said she’s “there for you, girl.” In what way? Does that mean she will come help me pack and move, or does it mean she’s sympathetic to my plight?  It probably doesn’t matter, as I have nowhere to go.

I’m looking at my cats and wondering what will become of them. How can  I ever say goodbye to them? How can I remove the trust they have in me to always take care of them?

I think I’ll just go back to bed and pray to God I don’t wake up.
